Nebraska Sex Offender Registry Act Update Training
Changes per LB 285 and LB 97 and the
Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act
When: November 5&6, 2009 (2) Two Hour Blocks
Where: NLETC - Grand Island, NE
Times: November 5 – 0900-1100 or 1300-1500
November 6 – 0900-1100 or 1300-1500
Only (1) two hour block of instruction is required
Disciplines: This update will be broken into 3 different classes all
conducted at the same time in two hour blocks, each class
covering the updates in the law and procedures effecting the
specific discipline to be covered.
Those disciplines are as follows:
1. Sheriff’s Departments, Department of Corrections, County Correction Facility
personnel and personnel that may be designated as an initial registration site
2. County and City Attorney personnel, County and District Courts & Judges
3. Probation Parole and any other interested Law Enforcement agencies
Registration: Call the NSP SOR Division at 402-471-8647 to reserve a two
hour block of time and date, limited space for each two hour
block is available so call ASAP.
Course Goals and Objectives:
The two hour block of instruction is intended to update Law Enforcement, Courts,
Corrections and other Criminal Justice entities in the new changes taking place
in the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry Laws regarding LB 285 and LB 97 and to
specifically address issues and changes that will affect the Criminal Justice
disciplines mentioned above.
Specific issues to be addressed will include but not be limited to;
New registration procedures
New form(s)
New address verification requirements
New timelines for registration and address verification
Posting of all offenders on the web for public notification
Tiering/Categorization procedures
Federal requirements regarding the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act
Collection of DNA at time of registration
Enforcement changes and techniques
